At Alder, our story begins with family—and continues with it, too.

In 1979, Mark Alder laid the foundations of Alder with a simple yet powerful vision: to build a business grounded in community, honest work, and strong, lasting relationships. Over the decades, that vision has shaped Alder into the respected, values-driven company it is today.

Mark’s sons, Joel and Rory, started working at Alder as teenage apprentices at just 15 years old. From learning the ropes on-site to mastering the day-to-day operations, they gained hands-on experience across every part of the business. Their deep understanding of the trade, combined with a clear passion for quality and service, led them to step into leadership roles—officially becoming Directors in 2013.

Since then, Joel and Rory have played a pivotal role in Alder’s continued growth. Under their leadership, Alder has expanded its service offering, strengthened its builder partnerships, and streamlined residential installations across Victoria. They’ve overseen the development of key rebate programs, driven improvements in installation turnaround times, and reinforced Alder’s reputation for reliability and care.

Joel now focuses on builder relationships—working closely with trade partners and project teams to deliver dependable, large-scale outcomes. Rory leads our residential, private, and rebate installations—staying closely connected with the everyday Australians we’re proud to serve.

Now running the business side-by-side, Joel and Rory are committed to the long-term future of Alder. They honour the legacy their father built while shaping the next generation of leadership—ensuring the values that started it all continue for decades to come.
